MINI E arrives in US

The first batch of MINI Es has arrived in the US.

A sharp-eyed ‘Revenge’ fan sent us these exclusive pictures from a holding facility in Central California, where the cars are being prepped for delivery.

BMW have promised 500 cars for the US market – and judging by what we saw, most of them are already here and ready for roll out.

Watch this space for delivery news.

My theory is that the more publicity that plugins, especially cool plugins like the Mini E get, the greater will be the negative impact on conventional ICE car purchase as people prefer to wait until ’something better comes along’. This will I think force manufacturers to accelerate their production and deployment plans for the cars they can sell (or even pre-sell to order), namely the EVs.

This means that the transition to EVs far from being gradual might be higly disruptive and damaging to the convential car industry in the short term – especially to those that have not entered or are late into the race.

Truly this scenario would be a brutal revenge of the electric car.

Those really are minis. And I can hardly wait to test drive one of those. Although I don’t think that I would fit in it.
