Ampicillin plasmid, BMW's just held an event for the lessees of their MINI E at the Science Center, next to the University of Southern California, a really stellar venue when you consider the product they were showing. Ampicillin compatibility, I arrived at the same time as Stefano Paris, Plug In America's documentarian, mechanism of action ampicillin, Kanamycin ampicillin, and as we walked from the parking lot, we went past an SR71 Blackbird on display to get to the party, ampicillin discovery. Ampicillin indications, This sleek, titanium marvel can travel at mach 3.2, synthesis of ampicillin, Uses of ampicillin, orders of magnitude faster than the 95 mph MINI E. A truly awesome feat of engineering, chloramphenicol ampicillin. Ampicillin anhydrous, It got us in the mood to see some equally exciting engineering, this time a combination of AC Propulsion's drive system packed into the tight confines of the German engineered MINI, lb broth ampicillin.

There were lots of folks I knew in attendance, all of them excited that delivery was finally close, ampicillin plasmid. Ampicillin trade name, There have been delays, something we advocates of plug-ins have grown to expect, ampicillin dilution. Carbenicillin ampicillin, But these were happy folks. There was no mistaking it, ampicillin definition. Ampicillin sequence, I got to meet Nathalie Bauters, the communications director for the MINI E program in the U.S., uses for ampicillin, 1000x ampicillin, and she assured me the delay was only due to getting final UL approval for the plug they are using for charging. Ampicillin plasmid, The cars have been waiting in a parking lot in Oxnard for weeks. BMW wants to make sure that all of their customers have an approved and permitted charging station installed in their garage before delivery, ampicillin oral. Pharmacokinetics of ampicillin, This is exactly what happened when we got our Toyota RAV EV six years ago. No charger, ampicillin shelf life, Ampicillin antibiotic resistance, no car.

So, satellite colonies ampicillin, Ampicillin type of antimicrobial agent, it appears most, if not all of the cars will be delivered in June, ampicillin contraindications. These MINIs, combined with the 400-500 Tesla Roadsters that will be on the road by end of June, effectively doubles the number of production highway capable EVs in the U.S, ampicillin plasmid. Ampicillin solubility, The Teslas will continue delivering at a rate of 100 per month while the MINI E customers will be the only ones in the country with these cars until the year long test phase is over and BMW cranks up the production of more.

The difference with how Nissan is approaching the EV is interesting. While BMW is taking a careful look at how its customers will be driving the cars and how they charge them, trying to see if there are any issues to deal with before committing to large numbers of EVs, Nissan is racing to get thousands on the road as fast as possible. They seem very comfortable that their car is going to be bulletproof right out of the gate. Ampicillin plasmid, I heard today that they expect to have 5,000 Nissan EVs for sale by the end of 2010. It is expected they will expand production quickly to the tens of thousands in 2011.

We are privileged to have front row seats to observe this quickly evolving transportation technology. When you look back 20 years from now, when virtually every vehicle sold has a plug on it, you'll remember these pioneer companies as being well ahead of the curve. Tesla will be a common brand, with several well received models in all price ranges, and there will be a few proud owners of the original Apteras zipping along the freeways among all manner of new plug-in cars, trucks and even SUVs. The gas burners of today will be mostly gone, replaced with cleaner and quieter cars, ampicillin plasmid.

The 200 people at tonight's party will soon take their place among the pioneers who helped bring this future about. You could really feel their excitement.

My good friend, Jeff U'ren, who came loaded with questions for the BMW folks and came away satisfied with the answers. The one question about whether the lessees can take the ,500 tax credit is still to be determined. More on that later...

Ampicillin capsules, [slidepress gallery='paulscott-minie']

AC Propulsion, the San Dimas, CA, company that birthed the modern-day EV with its AC-150 drive train, was tapped by BMW last year to provide drivetrains for an initial run of 500 Minis. Dubbed the "MINI E," these fully-electric cars are just weeks from being deployed on the streets of Southern Californai, ampicillin msds, New York, 1000x ampicillin, and New Jersey.

I'd been promised a test drive, so when Wally Rippel (you'll remember Wally from "Who Killed the Electric Car?") called and invited me out, ampicillin history, I jumped at the chance. Ampicillin mic, Wally was involved in the design of the Impact/EV1 while at Aerovironment, along with Alec Brooks and the incomparable Allan Cocconi (the "AC" of AC Propulsion). Wally worked for a while helping Tesla Motors launch their Roadster, ampicillin brand name, and is now back at AC Propulsion working on the newest iteration of the AC-150. Rumor has it that this next one will be quite a bit more powerful than the first, ampicillin capsules. Allergic to ampicillin, Wally drove me to a local restaurant for lunch, so I could get familiar with the interior of the car without having to watch for traffic. The MINI E is a well designed car with all the amenities one would expect of a new car these days, uses of ampicillin. I was more impressed than most, Sigma ampicillin, probably because I'm still driving that old RAV that was never much of a luxury vehicle to begin with, and, 6 years in, ampicillin oral, it still hasn't gotten any more comfortable. Ampicillin anhydrous, (my wife Zan, I might add, adores the car and has no complaints.)

When it was my turn to drive, bla ampicillin, the first thing I noticed was the lack of a creep mode. Ampicillin capsules, This is what Toyota built in to the RAV to simulate a gas car. Ampicillin india, When you let off the brake, any gas car with an automatic transmission will slowly roll forward without stepping on the accelerator. You expect this movement, ampicillin tr, and when it's not there, Use of ampicillin, it feels like something is wrong. Wally said they'd probably add it in the future, since it's an easy software upgrade, ampicillin meningitis.

After pulling out onto the street, Lb broth ampicillin, I gave it a punch to see how Tesla-like it was. The BMW engineers limit the voltage going to the motor, so it's not a rocket like the Tesla Roadster, but it does have very strong acceleration, ampicillin capsules. The soft whine of the motor is reminiscent of the EV1, and quite pleasing to the ear, stability of ampicillin. It's sort of like what you'd expect an EV to sound like, Ampicillin trade name, but don't worry, it's barely audible, so you won't be waking the neighbors, ampicillin indications.

I really wanted to see what it would do, Define ampicillin, so we jumped on the freeway, and I let her rip. This is where the similarity to the Roadster is most apparent, ampicillin sequence. Ampicillin capsules, The car practically jumps forward, and the strong acceleration doesn't let up like internal combustion cars do as they reach their peak torque RPM and begin hungering for another gear. The MINI E just keeps pulling like crazy all the way to its top speed of 95 mph. Ampicillin type of antimicrobial agent, At one point, I was doing about 70 and punched it. Even at that speed, contraindications of ampicillin, the car felt like it was taking off from a dead stop. Ampicillin dilution, Torque at high speeds is fun, and gives you the feeling you can get out of any situation, even in such a small package, lb agar plates ampicillin.

One of the coolest aspects of any AC Propulsion car is the regenerative braking, ampicillin capsules. The way it's designed, all you drive with is your right foot. As you let off the accelerator, the regen smoothly takes hold and slows you down. You almost never have to touch the brakes. My only complaint is the lack of a coast mode. Ampicillin capsules, My RAV has the ability to "freewheel," or coast, with no regen, and I've learned to use this for hypermiling - getting the most efficiency possible when driving in traffic. Supposedly, you can feather the accelerator to a coasting position, but I was not able to feel it, so maybe it takes a little practice. I think a button on the steering wheel that lets you coast when pushed would be a good addition to future models.

I'm jealous of those who were able to get in line early for these MINI Es. Even though they'll only have them for a year before BMW takes them back for study, it'll be a terrific year.

I heard another rumor that BMW is working on the next batch of these little rockets already. The more the merrier, I say.

The web was buzzing last week with stories about BMW's MINI E. To recap, BMW will be leasing 500 MINI Es from dealers in New York, New Jersey and Southern California starting some time early in 2009. To be considered for one of these cars, you have to go to http://www.minispace.com/en_us/projects/electric-mini-e/ and sign up, but remember, they are only going to consider you if you live in one of the regions cited above.

Those of us familiar with powerful EVs were curious where the drive train for the MINI E originated. There was speculation that Tesla was behind it, and not hearing Tesla deny it, rumors spread that it was indeed them. However, I called Nathalie Bauters of MINIUSA and she told me AC Propulsion of San Dimas, CA was their supplier. This is great news since the ACP 150 is the gold standard for EV motor/controller drive trains. She also confirmed ACP would be supplying the battery pack.

My guess is BMW finally figured out that their dalliance with hydrogen wasn't going anywhere and that they'd better get on the stick with battery electrics, since that's where everyone else was headed. Teaming with ACP gives them instant credibility in the EV community, and they'll gain great marketing and technical intelligence fast.

Since it is ACP's motor/controller that is the basis of the system used in the Tesla, this will be one very fast Mini! While 0-60 in 8.5 seconds is good, it's not close to the Tesla's sub 4 second quickness, but part of that comes from the gearing. I suspect that the 20-70 mph acceleration will be freaking awesome! I've driven the e-Box from ACP and that's the response I got. They also seem to have incorporated the very cool regen braking from ACP. Once you are used to it, you pretty much drive and brake with just the accelerator pedal. This is very similar to the regen/accelerator used by the Vectrix scooter. It's very cool!

One of the considerations for getting selected to spend a rather high 0 monthly lease payment is that you have a locking garage. BMW will be installing their own fairly fast charger in your garage. It will charge the 35 kWh pack in under 3 hours. This is close to twice as fast as charging my RAV.

The MINI's range is said to be 150 miles. This is exactly the distance I consider to be the sweet spot for an EV. Anything more is wasted in my opinion. If you need a long distance car, you should be driving a plug-in hybrid. As for the 35 kWh pack, I was told only 28 kWh is usable. This is probably because, unlike NiMH batteries, LiIon doesn't like being fully depleted or fully charged. I heard ACP keeps their packs from fully depleting or fully charging as they've learned this extends the life of the pack.

Lastly, there has been some speculation that BMW has no intention of making the MINI E into a full production car, since they apparently built these cars for the purpose of getting much higher value CARB credits by making them available in calendar year 2008, even though actual placement won't occur until 2009. I'm not sure I agree with this thinking since it's very clear the future is going to be electric and it makes sense for an OEM like BMW to test the market as well as test the batteries. The speculation is warranted, however, by the history of the EV that many of us experienced first hand.

One of the considerations for getting selected to spend a rather high $850 monthly lease payment is that you have a locking garage.

The automotive and green electric vehicle blogosphere has been abuzz with talk of the BMW MINI E ever since July 9th, 2008, when AutoblogGreen published the rumor that 500 of the intriguing new electric cars would be released later this year in California. Chris Paine's docudrama "Who Killed the Electric Car" has raised awareness that plug-in electric vehicles are possible, and the demand for plug-in electric vehicles has never been higher. During the past couple of years the American driving public has witnessed how dependent they are of gasoline, and vulnerable to rapidly increasing energy prices. The biggest obstacle for those who would prefer an alternative has been lack of purchasable plug-in electric vehicles since 2003 when auto manufacturers ceased production of plug-in EVs like the GM EV1, Honda EV Plus, and Toyota RAV4-EV.

While the past couple of years have been full of news about future plug-in electric vehicles arriving in 2010, BMW plans to leap frog ahead of all automakers on the electrification front by releasing 500 all electric plug-in MINIs at the end of 2008. From the news that has been trickling in along with a BMW October 18th, 2008 press release, these MINI Es will be worthy electric vehicles. I've been eagerly reading the flurry of blog entries and ongoing speculation on the MINI E. Per BMW's press release the MINI E will be motivated by a 150kW electric drive system with a range of 150 miles per charge and a top speed of 95 mph. The battery pack is comprised of 5,088 lithium-ion cells for a cummulative 35kWhrs of energy storage. These specifications sound strikingly similar to the electric drive and energy storage system found in the very impressive AC Propulsion eBox electric vehicles which also sport a 5,088 lithium-ion cell battery with 35kWhrs of capacity. Both BMW's press release and Gizmag allude to an accelerator pedal based regeneration braking system. Other than Vectrix electric motorcycles which have a DAaRT (Deceleration, Acceleration and Regenerative Throttle) system, the only vehicles I know that have phenomenal accelerator based regen are those equipped with AC Propulsion's fabulous AC150gen2 electric drive system.

[caption id="attachment_840" align="alignright" width="240" caption="AC Propulsion's 0-60mph in 3.6 second li-ion powered tzero."][/caption]

Could it be that BMW has seen the brilliance in AC Propulsion's decades of electric drive system engineering and refinement and teamed with them in order to produce these 500 fantastic electric MINIs? This would be wonderful news as AC Propulsion is the gold standard when it comes to electric drive technology. How impressive is AC Propulsion electric drive genius? A perfect example is the licensing of AC Propulsion's core electric drive technology to Tesla Motors for use in their beautiful Tesla Roadster. The Tesla Roadster represents the evolution of AC Propulsion's 12 year old tzero which in 2002 pioneered the use of lithium-ion batteries (6,800 cells) demonstrating 0-60mph acceleration times in the 3.6 second range.

If in fact AC Propulsion is involved with the MINI E project, this would confirm the electric MINIs will be wonderful high performance and modern plug-in electric vehicles. AC Propulsion after all has been involved in the development of the modern electric vehicle from the late 1980s having engineered the Power Electronics Unit for the original GM EV1 Impact prototype. If my speculation holds true congratulations are due both to BMW and AC Propulsion. We'll know soon enough when we get the opportunity to see the debut of the all electric plug-in MINI E in November 2008 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

A NEW EXPERIENCE - DRIVING PLEASURE WITHOUT EMISSIONS: THE MINI E 10/18/2008

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - October 18, 2008... The BMW Group will be the world's first manufacturer of premium automobiles to deploy a fleet of some 500 all-electric vehicles for private use in daily traffic. The MINI E will be powered by a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor fed by a high-performance rechargeable lithium-ion battery, transferring its power to the front wheels via a single-stage helical gearbox nearly without a sound and entirely free of emissions. Specially engineered for automobile use, the battery technology will have a range of more than 240 kilometers, or 150 miles. The MINI E will initially be made available to select private and corporate customers as part of a pilot project in the US states of California, New York and New Jersey. The possibility of offering the MINI E in Europe as well is currently being considered. The MINI E will give its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19 and 20, 2008.

The MINI E's electric drive train produces a peak torque of 220 Newton meters, delivering seamless acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 152 km/h (95 mph). Featuring a suspension system tuned to match its weight distribution, the MINI E sports the brand's hallmark agility and outstanding handling.

By introducing the MINI E, the BMW Group is underscoring the resolve with which it works towards reducing energy consumption and emissions in road traffic. The BMW Group is drawing on its unique technological expertise in the field of drive systems to develop a vehicle concept enabling zero emissions without renouncing the joy of driving. Putting some 500 cars on the road under real daily traffic conditions will make it possible to gain widely applicable hands-on experience. Evaluating these findings will generate valuable know-how, which will be factored into the engineering of mass-produced vehicles.

The BMW Group aims to start series production of all-electric vehicles over the medium term as part of its Number ONE strategy. The development of innovative concepts for mobility in big-city conurbations within the scope of "project i" has a similar thrust, as its objective also includes making use of an all-electric power train.

The energy storage unit: cutting-edge lithium-ion technology engineered specifically for use in the MINI.

Based on the current MINI, the car will initially be available as a two-seater. The space taken up by back-seat passengers in the series model has been reserved for the lithium-ion battery. When in use in the zero-emissions MINI, the battery unit combines high output with ample storage capacity and a small footprint with power ratios that are unrivalled in this field of application so far. The lithium-ion storage unit will have a maximum capacity of 35 kilowatt hours (kWh) and transmit energy to the electric motor as direct current at a nominal 380 volts. The rechargeable battery is made up of 5,088 cells grouped into 48 modules. These modules are packaged into three battery elements that are compactly arranged inside the MINI E.

The energy storage unit's basic components are based on the technological principle that has proven itself in practice in power supplies for mobile phones and portable computers. The MINI E's lithium-ion battery can be plugged into all standard power outlets. Its charge time is strongly dependent on the voltage and amperage of the electricity flowing through the grid. In the USA, users can recharge a battery that has been completely drained within a very short period of time using a wallbox that will ship with every MINI E. The wallbox will be installed in the customer's garage, enable higher amperage, and thus provide for extremely short charging times. Wallboxes fully recharge batteries after a mere two-and-a-half hours.

Driven by electricity: reliably, affordably and free of emissions.

A full recharge draws a maximum of 28 kilowatt hours of electricity from the grid. Based on the car's range, a kilowatt hour translates into 5.4 miles. Besides the benefit of zero-emissions driving, the MINI E thus offers significant economic advantages over a vehicle powered by a conventional internal combustion engine as well.

The heavy-duty battery delivers its power to an electric motor, which transforms it into thrilling agility. Mounted transversely under the MINI E's bonnet, the drive train unleashes its full thrust from a dead standstill. This provides for the car's fascinating launch capability. The MINI E's intense driving experience is augmented by its dynamic deceleration potential, which is also directly coupled to the accelerator pedal. As soon as the driver releases the gas pedal, the electric motor acts as a generator. This results in braking force, and the power recovered from the kinetic energy is fed back to the battery. This interaction ensures extremely comfortable drives ?Äì especially at medium speed with constant, but marginal, variation. In city traffic, some 75 percent of all deceleration can be done without the brakes. Making substantial use of this energy recuperation feature extends the car's range by up to 20 percent.

Signature MINI agility in a new guise.

Weighing in at 1,465 kilograms (3.230 lbs), the MINI E has an even weight distribution. Minor modifications made to the suspension ensure safe handling at all times. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system has been adapted to this model's specific wheel loads.

The MINI E's brake system comes with a newly developed electric underpressure pump. Its Electrical Power Assisted Steering (EPS) is the same as the one used in mass-produced MINIs. Both brake and steering assistance react to driving conditions and are thus extremely efficient. Even the air conditioning's electrical compressor only operates if desired or necessary.

Design: unmistakably MINI, undoubtedly new.

At first glance, the MINI E is obviously an iteration of the brand. But its design, which is the blueprint for the zero-emissions two-seater, has been complemented by a number of visual cues that point to its revolutionary drive concept. All of the units produced for the pilot project will have the same paintwork and bear a serial number on their front fenders.

The MINI E's coachwork sports an exclusive combination of metallic Dark Silver on all panels but the roof, which is clad in Pure Silver. What distinguishes the zero-emissions MINI is a specially designed logo in Interchange Yellow, depicting a stylized power plug in the shape of an "E" set against the silver backdrop. It has been applied to the roof, in smaller dimensions to the front and back, to the charger port lid, the dashboard trim, and ?Äì combined with the MINI logo ?Äì to the door jamb, in slightly modified form. The color of the roof edges, mirror housings, interior style cues and seat seams will match the logo's yellow tone as well.

Moreover, the central gauge and the battery level indicator behind the wheel of the MINI E, which replaces the MINI's rev counter, feature yellow lettering against a dark grey background. The battery level is displayed in percentage figures. The central gauge includes an LED display indicating power consumption in red and power recuperation in green.

MINI E customers will be part of a pioneering mission.

A 500-unit, limited-production MINI E series will be manufactured through the end of 2008. The project will thus attain an order of magnitude that clearly exceeds the size of currently comparable test series. Putting the MINI E on the road on a daily basis will be a pioneering feat to which both the drivers and engineers of the first zero-emissions MINI will contribute as a team.

MINI E customers will join forces with BMW Group experts to assist in the project's scientific evaluation. MINI E engineers accord high importance to staying in touch with the drivers on a regular basis, as this will help them analyze driver behavior besides vehicle characteristics in order to gain the most accurate and realistic picture of the demands placed on a vehicle with a purely electrical drive in the select usage areas.

Special charging station and full service for every MINI E.

The cars will change hands based on a one-year lease with an extension option. Monthly lease installments will cover any required technical service including all necessary maintenance and the replacement of wearing parts. At the end of the lease, all of the automobiles belonging to the project will be returned to the BMW Group's engineering fleet where they will be subjected to comparative tests.

The MINI E's lithium-ion battery can be charged using a wallbox provided to MINI customers. Only lockable garages or similar buildings will qualify as homebases and power stations for the MINI E.

Maintenance by qualified specialists.

The electric drive's high-voltage technology requires that maintenance work be done by qualified personnel using special tools that are not included in MINI service partners' standard toolboxes. In light of this, a service base will be set up on both coasts, staffed by service engineers that are specially trained to perform maintenance and repair work on the MINI E's electrical components. In the event of drive malfunction, these experts will provide professional support at the customer's local MINI dealer or the service base's specially equipped workshop. Technical inspections will take place after 3,000 miles (just under 5,000 kilometers) and at least after six months.

Production in Oxford and Munich.

The MINI E has already gone through the major phases of product development for mass-produced vehicles and passed numerous crash tests on the way. Aspects investigated besides passenger protection were the impact of collision forces on the lithium-ion battery and finding a non-hazardous location for it in the car. The MINI E's energy storage unit emerged completely unscathed from all of the crash tests mandated by US standards, which are especially high.

Production of the approximately 500 cars will take place at the company's Oxford and Munich sites and is scheduled for completion before the end of 2008. MINI's UK plant will be responsible for manufacturing the entire vehicle with the exception of the drive components and the lithium-ion battery, with the brand's series models rolling off its assembly lines concurrently. The units will then be transferred to a specially equipped manufacturing complex situated on BMW plant premises where the electric motor, battery units, performance electronics and transmission will be integrated.
